Yemeni red henna is a truly magical hair colour and difficult to source. We are very fortunate to have access to this unique henna powder that is known for its rapid dye release and dark henna red colour.
Any pure henna will deepen your existing hair colour and will generally always give you muted reddish brown undertones which will glow hotter in natural daylight, especially in the sun. The exception is grey hair / white hair / or blonde hair because any light hair colour will always turn orange red with henna, and indigo will then turn it all shades of brown through to black, depending how long you leave it in for.
Yemeni henna is known for its deep dark red tones.
Yemeni henna feels like it has more grain than our India henna. Crops and sieving processes are different , and it may mean you need to rinse more to remove it afterwards.
Many stores including natural health outlets like Holland & Barrett are now selling henna https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/natural-beauty/hair-care/hair-colouring/henna/ which means the choice is bigger than it ever was before ! When purchasing your henna check the ingredients list closely to make sure that what you’re buying is “lawsonia inermis” which is pure henna without synthetic chemicals added. Many natural henna products will have other natural ingredients added which help influence the final colour shade. Remember that the henna colour shade which you get is unique to you and may appear different on your hair compared to someone else’s. Many factors affect the hair colour shade including your starting colour and also whether you have previously dyed your hair. One thing is for sure though – pure henna is pure henna and as long as you have trust and confidence in the brand you’re buying you’re ready to experience the pure magic of henna !
