PPD/ Hair Dye Allergy

Like a dream come true

I have to say that finding your site last year was like a dream come true. After colouring my hair for the last 30 years since I was 16 years old, I suddenly developed a severe reaction to ppd and ended up in hospital. I then spent many months suffering from a horrendous rash which covered the whole of my body. My scalp felt as if it was on fire and extremely itchy and sore, my ears were blistered and I was generally so unwell that I had to give up work.

After spending the next several months desperately searching the internet for alternatives in which I could colour my hair, I finally found your site. It is quite unbelievable what little other choices there are for people who are allergic to chemical dyes. I felt disheartened, mortified and saddened to think that I was quickly becoming grey in my 40s when I didn’t want to. I am sure many, many other women out there would love to know about Renaissance Henna.

My hair has never looked as good before. It is healthy, glossy and beautiful.

I am one SATISFIED customer!

Hi Sabrina,

I am writing to tell you that I am one SATISFIED customer!!! I did as you suggested, and used just the Henna to begin with. And… because I followed your mixing directions (boiling water & sugar), the Henna colour has come out far richer (more aulburn-y) that I am used to, which is PERFECT. So I find that I don’t even need to proceed with the Indigo. Previously, I had been mixing lemon juice with Henna powder, because I understood that this released its dying properties better, BUT I see from your literature that in fact lemon juice lightens the Henna colour. So true! In the past I got only a light orange colour from a mix of 70-80% henna and 30-20% Indigo. Which is why I kept increasing the proportion of Indigo. No need any more!

Also, I am so happy about your application method, which is incredibly easy. I have always sectioned my hair painstakingly, and as I have shoulder length hair it has been taking me up to an hour each time to apply. Never again!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I can’t thank you enough.
All my best,
Tessa

A long-searched, excellent solution!

Dear Sabrina,

Please find attached some pics as promised:

1. before application

2. henna stage (1.5 h incubation); panic!

3. after indigo on the henna (20 min. incubation)

I used about 60 g henna (7 tablespoons), 40 g indigo (4-5 ts).

I did not add anything but boiling water (henna), lukewarm water (indigo), both Brita filtered.

Both henna and indigo were rather easy to apply. With the indigo, however, one must work rather quickly, because the colour sets so soon and becomes very dark after about 25 minutes. I covered the henna with plastic and wool; I left the indigo uncovered.

My normal hair colour was light chestnut, which has turned 90% white/grey. During some years I used Logona umbra (100% organic). However, with this my hair turned more and more copper-orange as the natural white increased. I was unhappy with the colour, coverage on outgrows decreased, but I refused to turn to chemical hair dyes.

I am very satisfied now with the result! A long-searched, excellent solution! Next time I plan to leave the indigo 5 min. longer at the front, but I do not wish my hair to turn too dark. Perhaps you have a suggestion?

One question: are the henna and indigo cultivated organically and sustainably? If not, are there future plans to do so?

Thank you so much!

Very best wishes and success!

Will definitely recommend it to others

Hi Sabrina

Just wanted to let you know I started using henna a few months back, after using various other products that I found I was having an allergic reaction to them all.

Thankfully, henna is the only product that has been good for me in may ways.
1) No allergic reactions
2) Longer, smoother, ticker hair
3) Acknowledgement from others, as so many people have complimented me on my hair, since using henna

I like the way my curls are more defined and softer.

I also add Alma and Shikoku to my henna mix my hair love love it.

I am very happy since using your product and will definitely recommend it to others.

Just received my third batch.

Thanks

Love Mazie Edwards

Hello,

I just want to say that I follow your steps outlined in the book and the henna turned my black/gray hair to black red/orange and the indigo changed it to black/black. YEAH!. I am African American and I am attaching a couple of photos. I will to before with gray, after henna, then after indigo.

I am very happy with the outcome.

thanks
