Henna turns light hair colours such as grey and blonde bright orange. Henna turns light brown hair colours light auburn. Henna turns darker brow hair colours deep auburn brown. Henna will hardly influence black hair starting colour but will impart a reddish glow in the sunshine on your black hair !
Indigo after henna will adjust your henna colour to auburn, brown or black, denuding on how long you leave the indigo in your hair for. So if you’ve got 100% grey or blonde hair for example and you’ve used henna first, you will apply indigo paste to your hair after henna to tone the orange to deep auburn, or to brown, or black As a rough guide, 30 mins indigo application time will get you a nice deep auburn hair colour on grey hair turned orange after henna; 45 mins will get you to a deep brown, and 60 mins will get you to black. The same principle applies whatever your starting colour or henna result . Using indigo after henna will darken your hair colour – the longer you leave the indigo in your hair for, the darker it goes. I have used this product for many years after finding I am allergic to hair dye. Love it and was so happy to find a product that covers grey hair and is completely natural, the only drawback is I have to do the red and then the black. Company is very reliable. Would highly recommend.
I’ve been using henna and indigo for years to naturally dye my mousy brown (and now also grey) hair a chocolate brown colour. Amazing quality natural dyes! I will admit, dying hair with henna and indigo takes some practice, and is a faff, but I think it’s worth it for the amazing NATURAL colour and it’s much cheaper than getting dyed at the hairdresser.
I ditched synthetic dyes in favour of Renaissance Henna’s henna and indigo, and I haven’t looked back. I’m delighted with the rich colour and shine and although it takes longer and can create a mess, the results are worth it; I’m always surprised by how my greys disappear!
